Talking jazz with Roberto Fonseca

Having played with the legendary Buena Vista Social Club around the world, pianist Roberto Fonseca is a national star of Cuban music. The personal blend of hip-hop, jazz, drum and bass, and Afro-Cuban styles on his solo albums has also made him one of the country’s premier jazz men. We spoke to Roberto ahead of his eagerly-anticipated performance with Malian musician Fatoumata Diawara on July 8 – and don’t forget to check out the full program of this year’s Istanbul Jazz Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture & Arts (İKSV).
