Roberto Fonseca, mi vida
2012 – Release of the album YO with Jazz Village / Harmonia Mundi.
2011 – Tours in Russia, the Caribbean, South Africa.
- Features on Gilles Peterson presents Havana Cultura Remix.
2010 – Release of the double album CD / DVD Live at Marciac (Enja).
2009 – Release of the album Akokan (Enja) which Roberto tours internationally until 2011.
– Coproduces and performs on the project Havana Cultura New Cuba Sound with Gilles Peterson (Brownswood Recordings). A second album will be released on 2011.
2008 – Records the album Gracias by Omara Portuondo (World Village / Harmonia Mundi) which won a Latin GRAMMY.
2007 – Release of the album Zamazu (Enja) and tours internationally.
Performs at the Jazz in Marciac festival with Bebo and Chucho Valdés and composition of the track Latin in Marciac which becomes festival’s song.
2004 – 2005 – Coproduction and recording of the last album of Ibrahim Ferrer, Mi Sueño, released on 2007 by World Circuit.
2002 – International tour with Omara Portuondo.
2001 – Joins Ibrahim Ferrer’s Orchestra, and plays more four hundred concerts all over the world.
- Third solo album, Elengo (Egrem).
2000 – Second solo album, No Limit, for the Japan label JVC.
– Production of the first album with the hip-hop group Obsesión, Un montón de cosas, by Egrem.
- Composition of the original band for the film Black, from the French director Pierre Maraval.
1999 – First solo album, Tiene que ver (Egrem).
1997 – Forms Temperamento with the saxophonist Javier Zalba (ex-Irakere) and the following year they publish their first album, En el comienzo, (Egrem).
1996 – First tour in Europe with the singer Augusto Enriquez.
1990 – First appearance at International Jazz Festival of Havana.
1983 – He begins to study piano.
1975 – Born in Havana, Cuba.

He tenido oportunidad de escuchar varios de tus discos y a mi entender son de una gran calidad. Tu música es de una sencillez que conmueve, pero al mismo tiempo, es muy elaborada y compleja. Gracias

Chanced upon a RF concert on a conference trip to Istanbul from Nigeria. It was a lot of bother finding the venue of the Babylon Club downtown Taskim Istanbul but from the first note by RF and his band to the encore, it was all worthwhile and then I met RF offstage. Cool, unassuming dude to the bargain of his virtuosity !
Looking forward to him playing in LAGOS, Nigeria!!!! -

Enjoyed Roberto Fonseca’s performance in JHB, South Africa, March 2011. Him and his band introduced me to some nice new jazz jamming sounds! Great meeting him off stage and chatting to him for a one minute! Thanks for the autography!

I had the chance to see Roberto Fonseca last Tuesday at La Zorra y El Cuervo and his music touched me really deeply. I took 2 minutes to go shake his hand because I probably won’t see him face to face again for a long time.
I hope he is going to Montreal (Québec) soon, because La Habana is a little bit far.
